Kristi Acuña, BSNUHolistic Health Practitioner |
Kristi holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health in Birmingham, Alabama. She is currently pursuing a Masters Degree with the goal of obtaining a Doctorate. Kristi is, and has been, solely focused throughout her career on practicing hands-on holistic health for patients both currently suffering from ailments as well as those looking for long-term prevention methods.
Kristi exemplifies the rare quality of practicing what she preaches having been born with red patchy psoriasis from head to toe. Her childhood was one of frequent visits to virtually every pediatrician, medical doctor, dermatologist, and alternative health practitioner who might know something on the topic. Kristi was given everything: prescriptions, antibiotics, steroid creams, mud baths, etc. It seemed that everyone was focused on treating the condition, while no one was interested in getting at the root cause of the problem – what she was putting into her body. In the end, all of their attempts failed. Embarrassed by her condition, combined with taunts from her peers and schoolmates, Kristi’s insecurities flourished.
In the end, Kristi had to wait until she was 19 years old before she would be introduced to a supplement and lifestyle that would finally rid her of psoriasis’ damaging effects. It was when Kristi was 19 that her mother, a registered nurse for 27 years, became a traditional naturopath
and discovered the root cause of Kristi’s ailment. She introduced Kristi to a line of supplements called Standard Process, which in combination with a new lifestyle, cleared the psoriasis and gave Kristi the confidence she had never before fully enjoyed. With that, a new sense of purpose was born within her.
While Kristi sought her education from Clayton College, she simultaneously received mentoring from two traditional naturopathic doctors. Both Doctors enriched the knowledge she was receiving from college and gave her hands on experience. At this time, she also began interning at her mother’s practice twice a week. It wasn’t long before she was fully immersed in the practice working full time, seeing patients, and managing the practice with her mom.
In January of 2009, Kristi made her own stake in business by joining a group of health and wellness professionals at Southwest Health in Costa Mesa, CA. Here she operates her own practice and gives back to her patients with education and a means by which to positively change their lives. Her main objective is to find the root cause of her patients’ ailments. Kristi applies two techniques – Applied Kinesiology (a system that evaluates the structural, chemical, and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing) and Foundational Evaluating (a physical examination that allows a practitioner to feel for inflammation and pressure in the body through Palpation). Kristi is also a member of the International Foundation for Nutritional Health (INFC) and through it employs Nutritec, an online program which allows her to see patients from around the world. Through her online counseling, Kristi makes full use of her expertise by working directly with her patients, no matter where they are located, to customize dietary programs and cleanses that help them achieve optimal health.
